(Without Burning Out)
Is eco-overwhelm keeping you from making the impact you know is possible?
You feel it every day. The weight of an avalanche of bad news headlines. The guilt when reaching for convenience over sustainability. The isolation when others don't seem to care as deeply as you do.
Sometimes it feels like you're drowning in information, paralyzed by too many choices, too many variables to consider in even the simplest decisions. Things only seem to be getting worse, and your daily actions feel insignificant. You wonder if the sacrifices you're making and the changes you're attempting actually matter at all.
Many smart, eco-conscious women feel completely overwhelmed by the environmental crisis because they don't believe they have the power to make real change.
"Before I felt like a hamster in a wheel. It felt really difficult to know how to make an impact. Now the environmental crisis seems no less dire, but my sense of helplessness seems different from what it was."
"I was seeing a lot of things I wanted to change but had no idea where to start or how to go about it. So it was really wonderful for me to be in the Eco Impact Academy because I learned so much and I feel so empowered."
"Now I am giving myself more grace. I have seen a shift in my priorities. I am feeling empowered to do things, and feel like I am not doing it alone."
Eco-conscious professional women who feel deeply concerned about environmental issues but overwhelmed by where to start.
Professionals seeking to use their skills, knowledge and creativity to generate systemic change within their sphere of influence.
Organizations and businesses developing sustainability strategies and projects that engage their communities.
Environmental professionals experiencing burnout who need to reconnect with their purpose.
With over 25 years in environmental sustainability—teaching at the university level, advising governments, and consulting with organizations—I know firsthand how overwhelming building a better world can be.
I've always felt deeply connected to the natural world. That’s why I started in this field, but it’s also what can make this work feel so heavy. I've stood in the avalanche of environmental information and experienced the loneliness of caring so much when others seem oblivious. When the overwhelm became too much, I felt lost and burnt out.
But from my lowest point, I carved out a new way forward. Drawing on over two decades of professional learning and a lifetime of personal experience, I developed a more manageable approach that focuses on using our energy strategically so we can create meaningful change while still caring for ourselves.
Now I help other smart, eco-conscious women find their path to environmental impact: cutting through the noise and using their skills, power, and influence to build a better tomorrow.
